Team? What Team?

At the moment, there are four "teams" in my life:

Educational Consultant - Discovery Toys

If you want to be part of this exciting business venture, just give me a call and we can meet for a coffee and chat. If you have children, we can also meet at a playgroup downtown. This would be a wonderful business opportunity for a mom that is willing to work and play as much as possible. Think about if this describes you. If so, call!

Director of the CGFS - Canadian-German Festival Society of BC

Next year, the very first German Festival will be planned somewhere central. It will have non-stop entertainment, trade show booths, cultural exhibits & an out-door beer garden. This Society is in the process of being created, with 5 main board members & other members meeting once a month to help with the planning.

Director of the DKK (German-Canadian Congress)

The German-Canadian Congress of BC is the voice of the German community, here to keep the culture alive and thriving for all of the different age groups we serve. We work hard to ensure that both young old and in-between are given the info. and resources needed to keep the language and traditions going.

We are always looking for new members, so whether you are from Germany, or were raised here with German heritage, you are welcome to join us! We need a few more representatives from the 20-30 age group, the 40-50 age group and the 50+ age group. Anyone from age 19+ may join us

The new website for the DKK is found at: www.dkkbc.bravehost.com

German Playgroups

This was started in April 2003, and has gone by different names:

1. German Playgroup (original, eh?)

2. Intensive Summer German Camp

3. Pied Piper Preschool Program

4. Tunes & Balloons

5. Downtown Deutschen

This program, now held Wednesday mornings in various outdoor locales, is offered for children up to school age. We play, sing songs, read books and dance. Everyone who has an interest in German culture and traditions may join us.

Kecia Boecking, from the St. Mark's Evangelical Luthern Church found at 18th/Fleming runs a second playgroup every second Monday. In summer months people meet in outdoor locations. Information sent out via e-mail. All are welcome.

MY DREAM: to start a German Preschool in Vancouver! If you are interested in this as well, please call!

The "Deutsche Kinderschule Vancouver Society" was created recently to help bring this dream to fruition. This is for all parents & families of young children interested in the creation of a German Kindergarten (Preschool) in the lower maindland.

To join the Society, simply fill out a survey and pay a $20 yearly membership. See you soon!
